Granny squares are a very popular crochet technique, and they can be used to create various items. I have made many items using Granny Squares such as BAGS, Bucket Hats, and Granny Square Cardigans which are Extremely popular crochet projects to make.
My favorite thing to do when I am bored is to crochet different granny squares. I will keep them until I have enough granny squares to make a bag out of them. Yes, crochet bags are a very easy crochet project. And using the basic crochet skills you have learned as a beginner, Just remember When choosing a crochet bag pattern, consider the bag’s purpose and your skill level. Some patterns may require more advanced techniques or stitches, while others may be suitable for beginners.
I try to include as much information as I can with the help of image tutorials within the crochet patterns to help you crochet your own bag.
Crochet a Bag Made with Granny Squares What you will need.
You CAN make these bags. Even as a beginner. As long as you can crochet the Granny Squares, Crocheting a bag can be fun and rewarding.
To get started making your crochet bag.
You will need the following materials:

- Yarn, any yarn you think will be suitable I use a range of yarns from Cotton blends to Acrylic)
- Crochet hooks
- Scissors
- Stitch markers (optional).
- Choose a pattern – Choose a crochet bag pattern and layout you like and gather all the necessary materials.
Gauge – Personally, I feel gauge is not critical for these bags, as you can easily work out the size of your bag when using the granny squares. By adding the number of squares x the length of each square or motif. Crochet the granny squares of your choice.
- Most of these bags and their layouts can be used with ANY granny squares you want to try!
- Follow the diagrams shown in the pattern for the bag layouts and sew the motifs together.
- Add handles – Finally, you’ll need to crochet handles to your bag. This can be done using various techniques, such as crocheting the handles separately and attaching them to the bag, or by crocheting the handles directly onto the bag.
Can you Use Different Layouts and Motifs to make ANY Granny Square Bag Pattern: YES!
